Michelle is the founder and creator of Travel with Intention, an intentional travel planning blog that's all about empowering independent spirits to curate their own unique adventures. With a passion for family travel and a drive to share our experiences with others, I began this blog in 2019 during the Covid-19 pandemic. Fed up with traditional travel advice that emphasizes quantity over quality, I set out to empower the DIY travel planner. Armed with personalized recommendations and sample itineraries, I believe in helping fellow travelers create unforgettable memories through intentional travel experiences. With a book, blog, newsletter, and future course in the works, my mission is to inspire others to embrace the badassery of DIY travel planning and create journeys that reflect who they are and what they truly want.

Hello Reader, Travel Planning Tools! I having a bit of fun over here so I just had to share. This is the online tool that I'm geeking out over now that helps make travel planning easier! Google Maps has integrated a new AI feature that supports a more question-driven type of searching. For example, I opened up Google Maps, and instead of a specific spot, I typed "Places with World War II history in London" and voila, faster than a toupee in a hurricane, I got over 20 results to consider and...

Hello Reader, If one of your goals for the year was to more deeply engage with new places then check out this travel inspiration! From horseback riding to a volcano in Mexico to whitewater river rafting along the boundary of Denali National Park in Alaska, here are three of the best North American travel experiences for 2024. Pony trekking to a volcano Pony trekking to a volcano in Mexico- Mexico usually inspires images of ancient ruins or beaches dotted with lounge chairs. But there’s...

Hello Reader, In 2020 I started travel blogging. Yeah, I know. Great timing. But something about writing about travel made my heart feel better. Remembering/documenting our travels during a time when we thought we couldn't helped me cope. I remember thinking at the time, sitting in front of our new "work from home" computer setup, that it was ironic. After moving so much as a kid, always a new place, always the new girl, and always a source of extreme discomfort, discovering I wasn't...

Hello Reader, If Las Vegas is a city that has skipped your bucket list thus far then my god woman, what are you waiting for?!? I am a fan and not for anything other than the fact that you could live there for 50 years and never need to do, see, or eat the same thing twice. If you are shaking your head and backing away from me slowly let me ask you something, are you thinking stale smoke hanging over casino floors, reservations made months in advance for trendy food choices in trendy settings,...

Hello Reader, Hope your new year is off to a great start! I know I've already learned a ton from hosting my 2nd travel summit. I love the fact that I'm getting great input from participants. And I'm ready to apply all the feedback I've gotten to improve the next time around. One of the sessions that I had the biggest takeaway from was Tabitha's themed travel session. Amazingly fun topic as it helps you design a travel itinerary around whatever you want to create a theme on! Visiting Game of...

Let's try for something different this year! I'd argue that you don't need another resolution, you need another trip! A Forbes survey noted the most common New Year's resolutions include: improved fitness (visiting walkable cities increases the likelihood of healthy habits like walking more) improved mental health (a change in scenery can increase your likelihood of healthy reflection) improved diet (if you live in the U.S., don't even get me started on how much better for you the food is in...

So I've always been an economy class kinda girl. Not for any particular reason mind you, it just fits the latitude and longitude of my bank sheet balances thus far in my life. So it feels like a part of how I travel. (Funny how what we've always done eventually becomes who we are.) My hotels and homestays have traditionally stayed in a similar range. I fantasize about what I'll splurge on when splurges are a little more accessible. But it turns out I may be doing myself a favor with how I'm...

Hello Reader, Ok, so I did a thing and I'm kinda grinning from ear to ear over here. The TWI Travel Planning Virtual Summit link is live! I'm so happy to say that I was blessed to collaborate with 12 awesome travelers who taught me at least one new thing (yeah right, more like 10 new things!) with each conversation I had. And I put it all together, stuffed the bag with crepe paper, and slapped a bow on top so I could share it with you! Happy Ho Ho!! I truly believe that we are all better...

Hello Reader, I've been working really hard and partnering with some incredibly talented people to bring together an event. See I've always believed that we are better together and I'm not much for isolation in passion projects. God knows I don't have all the solutions to my travel planning problems. So consulting with others who've been there and fellow passionate travel planners (PTPs)😉 brings me a wider array of answers. So in that spirit, I've collaborated with 12 awesome travelers to...

Hello Reader, I find it fascinating that certain things unite us all, no matter where we're from. Take, for example, the word "huh". As in "Huh? What did you say?" According to the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics, this little attempt at clarity-seeking is understood virtually everywhere. The world gave us a universal bridge across languages to demonstrate our not knowing, our willingness to be vulnerable and ask for more information (or if you are living with teenagers the word...
