Hello Reader,

In 2020 I started travel blogging. Yeah, I know. Great timing. But something about writing about travel made my heart feel better. Remembering/documenting our travels during a time when we thought we couldn't helped me cope.

I remember thinking at the time, sitting in front of our new "work from home" computer setup, that it was ironic. After moving so much as a kid, always a new place, always the new girl, and always a source of extreme discomfort, discovering I wasn't particularly talented at fitting in. But sitting down to write about travel as a much less angsty adult made me smile. It felt like maybe all those new places, all those pre-teen "stranger in a strange land" moments made me particularly prepared to discover what's novel about a place.

I can recommend travel because it's travel that helps you realize that even though the strongest truths you hold dear aren't necessarily shared everywhere you visit, you have more in common than not. And each site, each meal, each experience that helps uncover that fact is near close to magic.

Also, we're not permanent ... yeah, ok that's a bit heavy for a weekly newsletter, but true. So traveling and passing along the learning gained from that adventure is a gift we can give that helps the best parts of our human story move forward. Sharing information that helps the next person feel that much more comfortable getting out in the world is a decent enough cause for me.

So thanks for coming along for the ride and sharing a bit of your time with me. It's my goal to make it worth your while with travel advice that's less funny than stand up, but not as boring as the magazine in your dentist's office.

In that spirit of gratitude, I'm rolling out the Find Authentic Food Anywhere course to you all with a special discount of 50% off the normal price. You've been riding along with me on this journey and I appreciate that! And I heard from you loud and clear that culinary travel is a priority for a lot of you.
